Formed in 2018, the crew delves into the abyss, lost in a madness from which they can never escape. An unnameable world at the edges of reality.
"SKAPHOS is now prominently featured among the names to remember in the French Black/Death scene" (Metal Alliance Mag). The first album, "Bathyscaphe," emerged in 2020, revealing a vehement, aggressive, and dissonant style. A journey inspired by the works of authors such as Jules Verne and Lovecraft. Following a Franco-Swiss tour with STORTREGN in 2020, the group signed with The Flaming Arts Agency in 2021 and embarked on a European tour with VADER. The subsequent year saw the release of the second album, "Thooï," a deity crafted from scratch by the band. It narrates the tale of a people fanatically devoted to their god of the abyss, awakened after centuries of slumber, now more powerful than ever. SKAPHOS then embarked on two European tours alongside I AM MORBID, HATE, BELPHEGOR, and concluded with MARDUK, culminating in another Franco-Swiss tour with STORTREGN. In early 2023, the group embarked on a tour in Japan with BATUSHKA.
SKAPHOS brings their universe to life both on stage, with a sordid spectacle representing the depths of the sea, and on screens: with numerous music videos and a short film inspired by expressionism, akin to those of Fritz Lang, titled "La Litanie des Flots."
Since the resumption of concerts after Covid restrictions, the band has already performed in sixteen countries. The exploration continues in the deepest abysses, where the third opus is set to be born (expected release in 2023).
